Our Founders

Driven by a profound commitment to give back to their community, Lt. Colonel Bockarie Sesay , his wife, Karen Sesay and daughter, Namesa Sesay, established the Health is Wealth Foundation of Sierra Leone Inc. Their goal is to channel resources and expertise to enhance his hometown, Yarawadu, by improving healthcare and infrastructure.

  • Lt. Colonel Bockarie Sesay

    FOUNDER

    The foundation was conceived by Lt. Colonel Bockarie Sesay, a native of Yarawadu, following a distinguished career in the U.S. Army and significant educational achievements at Temple University and Howard University's Medical Program.

  • Karen Morgan Sesay, RN

    FOUNDER

    Karen Sesay, co-founder of the Health Is Wealth Foundation, brings over 37 years of nursing experience from New York City and international experience in Trinidad and Tobago. Her extensive expertise in healthcare delivery and management is crucial to the success of our medical programs.

  • Namesa Sesay

    FOUNDER

    Namesa Sesay co-founder of the Health is Wealth Foundation of Sierra Leone Inc. Namesa is pursuing a Master's in Public Health at Mercer University. At the Georgia Department of Public Health, she specializes in disease surveillance. Her expertise in data analysis and surveillance systems supports the foundation’s mission to promote health equity.

    A nurse practitioner with experience in inpatient care and more extensive experience in outpatient care focusing on community health, Meno Kouakeu brings valuable healthcare management skills to our initiatives.

  • MAJ (P) Muhammad Sarmodu Mansaray

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Program Manager in the Warfighter Integration Division for Chemical & Biological Technologies at the DOD. Major Sarmodu, with his missions to South Korea and educational background in Biology, Environmental Management, and Epidemiology, brings robust leadership and specialized knowledge, enhancing our approach to health emergencies and biosecurity.

  • Dr. Peggy Valentine

    DIRECTOR

    Vice President of Allied Health Education at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Valentine oversees all allied health education programs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. With her educational background from Virginia Tech and Howard University, she brings a wealth of knowledge to enhance our health and educational programs.

    DIRECTOR

    President and CEO of Etan Anesthesia Services and Mango Verte Escape Holding Co. Her medical expertise and leadership experience from multiple tours in conflict zones are vital to our healthcare initiatives.

  • Colonel Valens M. Plummer

    DIRECTOR

    A physician with Kaiser Permanente and vast experience in military and civilian healthcare settings, Colonel Plummer's expertise enhances our medical project management capabilities.

    DIRECTOR

    Senior Physician Assistant with over 25 years in the U.S. Army, currently practicing Adult Cardiac Surgery at Mount Sinai Health System. His medical and leadership experiences across various global deployments enrich our healthcare strategies and operational protocols.

  • Dr. Shekou Sesay

    DIRECTOR

    Founder and CEO of the Peachtree Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic and former Pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente. With degrees in Medicine and Public Health from Morehouse University, Dr. Shekou's pediatric expertise will significantly enhance our healthcare services for children and adolescents.

  • Colonel Yves Anthony Gauvin

    DIRECTOR

    Dr. Yes Anthony Gauvin, MD, COL (R) US Army, completed his Baccalaureat Part II at Institution Saint Louis de Gonzague in Haiti in 1982. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of Haiti in 1990 and received his medical license after a Social Services Residency in Marigot, Haiti, in 1991. He completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, NY, in 2000. Currently, he is an Attending Physician with Stamford Health Medical Group in Greenwich, Connecticut.

  • LT. COLONEL Robert Snuffer

    DIRECTOR

    Dr. Robert Snuffer is a physician in rural West Virginia with nearly 30 years of U.S. Army service, currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After 17 years in private practice, he transitioned to ER medicine and now serves as the Director of the ER and Hospitalist services, and Clinical Affairs Medical Director at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. Additionally, he is the medical director for EMS in three counties. Dr. Snuffer has multiple deployments to the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

    Lieutenant Colonel Jean Baptiste is a distinguished Army medical professional with extensive experience in providing medical care to soldiers. Baptiste has served in various challenging environments, demonstrating exceptional skill and dedication.
